The third road contest was the charm for Punxsutawney, as they earned their first away win of the season. Everything went their way against the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals on Monday as they made off with a 14-7 victory. The Chucks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Makenna Gula was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Avary Powell was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Olivia Toven was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Punxsutawney lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Punxsutawney now has a winning record of 3-2. As for DuBois Central Catholic, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Punxsutawney will be playing in front of their home fans against Ligonier Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for DuBois Central Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Johnsonburg at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
