Baseball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for HCYA

HCYA lost a heartbreaker the last time they played West Houston HomeSchool, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. HCYA's pitchers stepped up to hand West Houston HomeSchool an 8-0 shutout on Friday. This was a revenge game for HCYA: when they faced off against West Houston HomeSchool back in March, they had to take a 6-4 defeat.

Nicholas Holcomb was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 13 contests.

In other batting news, Luke Parish was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

The win made it two in a row for HCYA and bumps their season record up to 15-12. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for West Houston HomeSchool, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. HCYA will take on Aggieland HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Houston HomeSchool, they will face off against Kinkaid at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
