Softball Recap: Oxford Triumphs

While Oxford's victory against West Elk wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Patriots on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Eliana Wendt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Fayth Catlin, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oxford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.

The win got Oxford back to even at 8-8. As for West Elk, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Oxford nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
