Basketball Recap: Gilardo Perez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vanguard Academy Rembrandt over IDEA Quest College Prep

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt lost against IDEA Quest College Prep back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The match between the Vanguard Academy Rembrandt Spartans and the IDEA Quest College Prep Trailblazers didn't end well, with the Vanguard Academy Rembrandt Spartans falling 53-38.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gilardo Perez, who went 7 of 15 en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Perez has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ruiz, who posted six points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Vanguard Academy Rembrandt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for IDEA Quest College Prep, they pushed their record up to 4-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-45 loss against Miller on the 12th. As for IDEA Quest College Prep, they will head out to challenge Idea Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 17th.
