Basketball Recap: Hobart Takes a Loss

If Hobart was riding high fresh off their 71-49 takedown of Wheeler last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hobart Brickies fell to the Kankakee Valley Kougars 64-58. The Brickies were not able to make up for their loss to the Kougars from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Gavin Joy was a one-man wrecking crew for Kankakee Valley as he went 9 of 13 on his way to 22 points along with eight boards and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Joy a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Sampson, who went 5 for 6 to rack up 10 points and five rebounds.

Hobart has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Kankakee Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.

Looking ahead, Hobart will take on Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Valparaiso's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests. As for Kankakee Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-51 defeat against La Porte on the 8th.
