Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Mt. Carmel

Mt. Carmel had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Escondido on Friday. The Sundevils' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 12-0 shutout. The Sundevils haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Kaili Martha was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clara Carter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Mt. Carmel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Escondido, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Mt. Carmel will challenge Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Escondido, they have already played their next match, an 11-7 victory against Classical Academy on the 5th.
