Softball Game Preview: Hazleton Area Cougars vs. South Williamsport Mountaineers

The Hazleton Area Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the South Williamsport Mountaineers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hazleton Area is headed out to face South Williamsport after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Hazleton Area blew past Berwick 16-6 on Wednesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kayla Lagowy was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia Williams was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

Hazleton Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berwick only posted an OBP of .483.

Meanwhile, South Williamsport was able to grind out a solid win over North on Friday, taking the game 9-4.
