Old Forge is 8-2 against Lakeland since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. Old Forge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Dunmore hit Old Forge with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bucks. Blue Devils fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bucks since Thursday.
Ava Arnold led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilianna Lenceski, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Lakeland hadn't done well against Riverside recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Chiefs came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 17-13. The high-scoring effort was just what the Chiefs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Lakeland got a massive performance out of Mick Eremo, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Eremo has posted since back in March. Abby Ross was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Lakeland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Old Forge's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Lakeland, they moved to 6-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Old Forge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Lakeland struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Old Forge got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Lakeland by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
