Volleyball Recap: Hayleigh Merrill Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Maranacook

Edward Little won the last time they faced Maranacook and things went their way on Thursday too. The Red Eddies put the hurt on the Black Bears with a sharp 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Edward Little was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-4, 25-9, 25-12.

Edward Little got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayleigh Merrill out in front who had six aces. Those six aces gave Merrill a new career-high.

Merrill wasn't the only good servers: Edward Little was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 36 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 15 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Edward Little's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Maranacook, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Edward Little will host Nokomis at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Maranacook, they will head out to take on Orono at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
