Soccer Recap: Saint Mary's Comes Up Short

Saint Mary managed to keep up with El Cerrito until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Saint Mary's Panthers came up short against the El Cerrito Gauchos, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Gauchos are ranked 135th).

Saint Mary's has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5-1 record this season. As for El Cerrito, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
