Football Game Preview: Stratford Red Devils vs. Newtown Nighthawks

Stratford hasn't had much luck against Newtown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Red Devils will look to defend their home field against the Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Stratford lost to Notre Dame Prep on the road by a 26-7 margin. The loss put an end to the Red Devils' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Newtown faced Windsor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Nighthawks fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 34-31.

Newtown now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Stratford, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Stratford was dealt a bruising 42-0 loss at the hands of Newtown when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Red Devils, Ryan Schoffstall (who threw for 195 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
