Basketball Recap: Perry County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Perry County came into Monday's matchup having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They rang in the new year with a 70-57 win over the Waverly Central Tigers on Monday. The Vikings' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perry County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenner Haston, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Pevahouse, who posted 16 points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Perry County was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Perry County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11. As for Waverly Central, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Perry County will face off against Scotts Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waverly Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-53 defeat against Hickman County on the 7th.
