Ridgewood has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ridgewood posted their biggest victory since December 13, 2023 on Thursday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 61-32 victory over Newcomerstown. Given Ridgewood's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Newcomerstown is ranked 801st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, everything went Tuscarawas Valley's way against Dover on Wednesday as Tuscarawas Valley made off with a 43-18 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Tuscarawas Valley.
Tuscarawas Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Locie Levengood, who scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sally Ray, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Ridgewood is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Tuscarawas Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 11-2.
Ridgewood suffered a grim 51-31 defeat to Tuscarawas Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Levengood, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Now that Ridgewood knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
