Basketball Game Preview: Kankakee Valley Kougars vs. Lowell Red Devils

The Kankakee Valley Kougars will face off against the Lowell Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.

Kankakee Valley blew Knox out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Knox got their revenge. The Kougars fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Kougars have suffered against the Redskins since January 20, 2017.

Meanwhile, Lowell ended up a good deal behind Illiana Christian on Tuesday and lost 64-47. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Vikings are ranked 156th).

Kankakee Valley will need to focus on slowing down Lucas Brady, one of several Lowell players who made an impact when they last played. He made all 5 shots he took for 10 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Cass Hejnowski, who shot 63% from the field en route to 10 points.

Lowell's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Kankakee Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
