Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Comes Up Short

After soaring to 68 points the game before, Pinecrest Academy Cadence was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They were dealt an 81-28 loss at the hands of the Rancho Rams. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Pinecrest Academy Cadence lost, don't look at Martinique Brown. Despite the final result, he posted seven points along with eight boards and four steals. That's the most steals Brown has posted since back in February of 2024.

Jakoi Lide continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rancho, going 20 of 36 en route to 50 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lide has scored at least a third of Rancho's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad Koroma, who put up six points in addition to ten boards and three blocks.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Rancho, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars duke it out with the Palo Verde Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rancho, they will square off against Southeast Career Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Rancho's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
