Basketball Recap: Ames Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ankeny Centennial, Ames was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They strolled past the Marshalltown Bobcats with points to spare, taking the game 43-25. Given the Little Cyclones' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Bobcats are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ames now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Marshalltown, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ames will venture away from home to square off against Des Moines East at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Marshalltown, they will take on Ottumwa at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
