Soccer Game Preview: Penfield vs. Churchville-Chili

The Penfield Patriots will face off against the Churchville-Chili Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Friday just wasn't the day for Penfield's offense. They lost 3-0 to Fairport on Friday. While losing is never fun, Penfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Fairport are ranked eighth).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Churchville-Chili was not quite Fairport's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to the Red Raiders. The loss was Churchville-Chili's first of the season.

Penfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Churchville-Chili, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1-1.

Penfield beat Churchville-Chili by a goal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 1-0. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
