Softball Recap: South River Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

While South River didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Mother Seton Setters on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-3 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Rams, who have now won four contests in a row.

South River let Veronica McKim and Leigha Borusovic run wild. McKim scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5, while Borusovic got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That stolen base was McKim's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reese Rega, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

South River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .438 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

South River's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Mother Seton, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South River will face off against Wardlaw Hartridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mother Seton, they will take on South Amboy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
