Basketball Recap: Hope Christian Academy Skates Past St Johns Christian School with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Hope Christian Academy over St Johns Christian School in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lions blew the Soldiers out of the water with a 95-20 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 66-point advantage.

Hope Christian Academy was led to victory by Caden Hartzog and Grant Timonere. Hartzog dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards, while Timonere shot 56% from the field to rack up 23 points and three steals. The game was Timonere's third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Gaffney, who went 6-for-10 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Hope Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St Johns Christian School only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

Despite the loss, St Johns Christian School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jacob Hogg shot 53% from the field on his way to 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That was a full 100% of the Soldiers' points, marking the third time in a row Hogg has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Hope Christian Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for St Johns Christian School, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Hope Christian Academy will take on Brunswick Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for St Johns Christian School, they will face off against Faith Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
