Baseball Game Preview: Community School of Davidson Spartans vs. East Mecklenburg Eagles

The Community School of Davidson Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the East Mecklenburg Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Community School of Davidson is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Community School of Davidson proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Langtree Charter Academy 8-7.

Community School of Davidson's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Austin Moran, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Landon Whittington was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, East Mecklenburg posted their closest win since April 3, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Butler 10-9.

Dillon Romig was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liam Parsons, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

East Mecklenburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. Community School of Davidson pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Community School of Davidson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like East Mecklenburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Community School of Davidson couldn't quite finish off East Mecklenburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Community School of Davidson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
