Softball Game Preview: Edon Bombers vs. Lakewood Park Christian Panthers

The Edon Bombers will head out on the road to square off against the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Edon has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Edgerton hit Edon with a seven-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bombers lost 15-2 to the Bulldogs. The Bombers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Edon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood Park Christian). They walked away with a 13-8 win over Fort Wayne Wayne on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

The team relied heavily on Reagan Nott, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Lily Morris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lakewood Park Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Wayne Wayne only posted an OBP of .333.

Lakewood Park Christian's record now sits at 2-7. As for Edon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Edon might still be hurting after the 19-9 defeat they got from Lakewood Park Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Bombers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
