Basketball Recap: Chisimdi Agbasi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead M.L. King over Mays

M.L. King lost against Mays back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions came up short against the Raiders, falling 74-49. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Raiders are ranked 31st).

M.L. King lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Chisimdi Agbasi, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Calvin Everhart Iii, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Mays' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Omari Barnes led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. That's the most points Barnes has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Sparks, who shot 47% from the field on his way to 18 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for M.L. King and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Mays, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

M.L. King has already played their next game, a 73-50 victory against Mt. Zion on the 13th. Mays and Business Engineering Science Tech will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
