Volleyball Game Preview: Southwest SD Raiders vs. San Ysidro Cougars

After both having extra time off, the Southwest SD Raiders and the San Ysidro Cougars will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Southwest SD made easy work of The Cambridge School and carried off a 3-0 win.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-13.

Paloma Lopez was nothing short of spectacular: she had 14 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (19). Another player making a difference was Sofia Beltran, who had eight digs and eight assists.

Meanwhile, San Ysidro hadn't done well against Mar Vista recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Mariners. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Southwest SD now has a winning record of 8-7. As for San Ysidro, their record is now 13-11.

Southwest SD came up short against San Ysidro in their previous matchup on September 6th, falling 2-0. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
