Recap: Northfield Norsemen vs. Whitko Wildcats
If the Northfield Norsemen were feeling good off their 60-36 takedown of the Madison-Grant Argylls last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Northfield fell just short of Whitko by a score of 47-45. While losing is never fun, Northfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Whitko is ranked 95th).
Northfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hannah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holmes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elli Baker, who scored nine points.
Northfield's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-12. As for Whitko, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Northfield will be playing at home against Rochester at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitko, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
