Baseball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

St. Mary lost against Kent Denver back in May of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pirates fell 15-11 to the Sun Devils. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isaac Velazquez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Cole Eberhardt, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Kent Denver, they moved to 10-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, St. Mary's will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Woodland Park at 11:00 a.m. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season. As for Kent Denver, they will head out on the road to face off against Denver Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
