Football Recap: Kirby Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Kirby and Crockett County squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Kirby had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 28-26. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 46th).

Dk Woods produced another solid performance rushing for 264 yards and three scores on only 15 carries for Crockett County. Those 264 rushing yards gave Woods a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Kirby and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Crockett County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Kirby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crockett County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Pearl-Cohn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will need to watch out since the Firebirds have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
