Volleyball Recap: White Oak Comes Up Short at Home Against Swansboro

White Oak unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Swansboro Pirates by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, White Oak sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-13.

Alyssa Carkhuff paced White Oak's offense, picking up eight kills. Carkhuff got some help from Mariah Reeves and her 16 assists. Kylie Stephens controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Swansboro has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

White Oak wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Dixon on the 13th. As for Swansboro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Pamlico County on the 13th.
