Shade and Berlin Brothersvalley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Mountaineers at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Shade sitting on eight straight victories and Berlin Brothersvalley on ten.
Shade gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Turkeyfoot Valley Area.
Payton Maddy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Lindsay Frazier was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jaedyn Krupper was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Shade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Berlin Brothersvalley never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Ferndale with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Coral Prosser, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsie Barna, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Berlin Brothersvalley pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Shade, their record is now 10-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shade has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Berlin Brothersvalley struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shade suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Berlin Brothersvalley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
