Baseball Recap: Elida Takes a Loss

Melrose hit Elida with a seven-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell 17-12 to the Buffaloes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-9 on Wednesday.

TJ Kennedy stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Radlee Ferguson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Elida and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Melrose, their record now sits at 4-11.

While Elida had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
