Baseball Recap: Douglas County Takes a Loss

Douglas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Pueblo West Cyclones, falling 10-3.

Gunnar Gienger was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has become a key player for Douglas County: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Bricen Moore was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Parker Gianesses also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Douglas County's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Pueblo West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Douglas County will head out to take on Lewis-Palmer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewis-Palmer will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Douglas County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pueblo West, they will take on Pine Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Pine Creek has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
