Baseball Recap: Copiah Academy Comes Up Short

Copiah Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Silliman Institute Wildcats. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since February 23, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Copiah Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayes Gillis, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Ryder Forrest also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Copiah Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10-1. As for Silliman Institute, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

While Copiah Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
