It was fun while it lasted, but Northwest Webster's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Newell-Fonda Mustangs. The loss put an end to the Cougars' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Northwest Webster fell to 7-1. As for Newell-Fonda, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Northwest Webster and Webster City will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Newell-Fonda, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Western Christian at 3:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
