Softball Recap: McEwen Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but McEwen unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Ava Lastovka put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

McEwen's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.

Coming up, McEwen will head out on the road to square off against Houston County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Irish have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
