Baseball Recap: DSST: Montview Takes a Loss

DSST: Montview extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They came up short against the Lincoln Lancers, falling 20-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on Saturday.

As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by ten runs or more this season.

For Lincoln's part, Gio Castro made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Castro was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Jose Bustos was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Lincoln: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Sam Trujillo was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DSST: Montview will face off against Bruce Randolph at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln, they will host Manual at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbolts have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season.
