Basketball Recap: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. West Prairie Cyclones
Astoria/VIT extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the West Prairie Cyclones, falling 63-39. The Rebels were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cyclones from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.
As for West Prairie, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 51.7 points per game.
Leading West Prairie to victory were Braden Coplan and Ryan Clark. Coplan went 8-for-16 en route to 22 points and five boards, while Clark dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. That's the most rebounds Clark has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli DeCounter, who put up six points and seven boards.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will square off against Midwest Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Prairie, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Biggsville West Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
