The Northside Mustangs will take on the Lake View Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northside barely beat Mather the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Rangers 14-2 on Monday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

John Piper made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Northside: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rowan Yen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Northside's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Jesse Nick was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mather only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Clemente a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Lake View considering their one-run performance the match before.
Lake View has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Northside, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Northside skirted past Lake View 7-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
