Recap: Denver South Ravens vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles
The Denver South Ravens's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Vista. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Denver South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nevaeh Millard, who scored 17 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ka'Niya (KJ) Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Mountain Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kennedy Spellman, who scored 24 points along with seven assists and five steals. Kiarra Spellman was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six steals.
Denver South's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Mountain Vista, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver South will face off against Far Northeast W at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Far Northeast W comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Mountain Vista's road trip will continue as they head out to face Legend at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
