Basketball Recap: Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Longview Christian, falling 71-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Storm this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-46 back in November.

Despite the loss, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy had strong showings from Nick Runte, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals, and Lance Compton, who posted nine points. Compton continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played.

Judah Sandel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Longview Christian, putting up 13 points along with eight assists and eight boards. What's more, Sandel also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January. Ikey Diffie was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Longview Christian, they moved to 7-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens Christian Preparatory Academy will welcome Trinity Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Athens Christian Preparatory Academy likes a good challenge. As for Longview Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
