Basketball Recap: Rj Mayes and Nykavian Bradley Secure Win for Marianna

Marianna posted their biggest win since December 17, 2024 on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Cottondale Hornets as the Marianna Bulldogs made off with an 89-65 victory. The score was close at the half, but the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half with 55 points.

Leading Marianna to victory were Nykavian Bradley and Rj Mayes. Bradley went 12 for 17 on his way to 29 points and seven boards, while Mayes went 9 of 21 en route to 27 points along with seven assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Bradley a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Mason Mobley, who posted ten points and five steals.

Cottondale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trashonn Collins, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Collins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Cameron Odom was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Marianna pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Cottondale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.

Marianna has already played their next contest, a 76-70 loss against Maclay on the 1st. As for Cottondale, they will face off against Malone at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cottondale has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 200 points over their last three matches.
