Preview: Cape Fear vs. Westover
Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Westover should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They will challenge Cape Fear on the road at 7:30 PM. Westover will be looking to avenge the 20-43 loss they took the last time these two teams played.
Last Saturday, Westover were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap, as they fell 18-23 to Pine Forest. Westover got a solid performance out of junior Keyshown Lindsey, who rushed for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. Lindsey has now scored at least one touchdown in the past 3 games.
Meanwhile, after a dominant victory in their game, Cape Fear were humbled. Cape Fear didn't finish too far behind, but the team still lost 16-20 to Gray's Creek. Cape Fear's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Westover found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 20-43 punch to the gut against Cape Fear the last time the two teams met. Can Westover avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself ? We'll soon find out.
