Football Game Preview: Loachapoka Indians vs. Pike Liberal Arts Patriots

The Loachapoka Indians will head out on the road to take on the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Loachapoka has four straight wins, Pike Liberal Arts has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Loachapoka humbled Ranburne with a 41-13 victory. Considering the Indians have won six contests by more than 24 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Loachapoka's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kj Carter, who rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 118 yards and a pair of TDs. Carter's passing game has become a key predictor of the Indians' success: the team is 5-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Lareaco Echols was another key rusher, rushing for 91 yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Pike Liberal Arts took a blow against Highland Home on Friday, falling 63-12.

Pike Liberal Arts' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Loachapoka, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything went Loachapoka's way against Pike Liberal Arts in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Loachapoka made off with a 40-17 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
