Baseball Recap: Galena Bears vs. Early Panthers
Galena lost against Early back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Galena Bears fell 7-3 to the Early Panthers. Galena has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Early's part, Landen Burrow made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits over six innings pitched. Burrow was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Garret Loftis was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Galena's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Early, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
Galena is on the road again on Monday to play Mt. Vernon at 4:30 p.m. As for Early, they will be playing at home against Clever at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Early is on a four-game streak of home wins, Clever a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
