Softball Game Preview: Crook County Cowboys vs. Estacada Rangers

For the second straight game, Crook County will face off against Estacada. The Cowboys will take on the Rangers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crook County has three straight wins, Estacada has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Crook County needed a bit of extra time to put away Estacada. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rangers, sneaking past 7-6.

Madisyn Hardman spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kendall Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Greysun Kline also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crook County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Crook County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Estacada, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
