Hernando has gone a perfect 10-0 against Hudson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Leopards will be playing at home against the Cobras at 7:00 p.m. Hernando is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Hernando didn't have quite enough to beat River Ridge and fell 2-1.
LEANNA CLARK spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Hernando saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AMMARAE 'RAE' EASTON, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hudson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Anclote on Monday as they made off with a 19-3 win. Considering the Cobras have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Akayla Stoll made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bella Veraldi was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Sanfillippo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Hudson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .739. They are 8-4 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Hudson's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Hernando, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hernando has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hudson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Hernando's way against Hudson in their previous matchup back in May of 2019, as Hernando made off with a 9-1 win. Will the Leopards repeat their success, or do the Cobras have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
