Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

After losing to Fairmont the last time they met, Pinecrest decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pinecrest Patriots walked away with a 57-49 victory over the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Several Golden Tornadoes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Johnson, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ayden Cummings, who put up five points in addition to seven assists and five steals.

Pinecrest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Fairmont, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Pinecrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-44 defeat against Lumberton on the 21st. Fairmont has also already played their next game, a 71-39 win against St. Pauls on the 20th.
