Baseball Recap: Swansboro Snags 11th Win in Last 14 Games

Swansboro took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against West Carteret, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates skirted past the Patriots 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Patriots on Friday, they had to take a 7-1 loss.

Nick Quinones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Patrick Hollifield, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Till, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Swansboro is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for West Carteret, they moved to 13-9 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Swansboro nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
