Basketball Recap: Switzerland County Takes a Loss

Switzerland County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They fell 72-59 to the Rising Sun Shiners. The Pacers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Shiners apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Switzerland County still got an impressive performance from Nate Williams, who shot 75% from the field en route to 18 points and five assists. Thanks to that strong game, Williams now owns an excellent 48.7% field goal percentage. Corbin Craig also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Rising Sun's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. The game was the first time they have beaten Switzerland County on their court since January 7, 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rising Sun to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dj Williams, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Elliott, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 20 points and five boards.

Switzerland County and East Central will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pacers will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Rising Sun will take on New Washington in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
