Preview: Wilby Wildcats vs. Torrington Raiders
The Wilby Wildcats will stay at home for another game and welcome the Torrington Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Wilby has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 730 points over their last nine contests.
After soaring to a 52-point win in their last game, Wilby came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of Crosby by a score of 68-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Wilby has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, even though Newington scored an imposing 66 points on Saturday, Torrington still came out on top. Torrington pulled ahead with a 67-66 photo finish over Newington. The win was just what Torrington needed coming off of a 67-46 defeat in their prior matchup.
Torrington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luca White led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. William Parkhouse was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Wilby's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Torrington, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Wilby beat Torrington 63-56 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Will Wilby repeat their success, or does Torrington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
