Softball Recap: Middletown Blue Dragons vs. Southington Blue Knights
Middletown had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Southington Blue Knights, falling 14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.
As for Southington, their record now sits at 9-2. Considering they have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
For Southington's part, Aubrey Perugini was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Perugini's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Bafundo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Middletown will square off against Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southington, they will take on Waterford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Blue Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
