Basketball Recap: Lehigh Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Lehigh won the last time they faced Fort Myers and things went their way on Friday too. The Lehigh Lightning enjoyed a cozy 72-58 victory over the Fort Myers Green Wave. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Green Wave are ranked 402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lehigh had a senior duo take command as Fritz Odige went 9-for-12 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds and Jaiden Robinson went 8-for-12 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and four steals. What's more, Odige also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Justin Gollop, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 10 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Lehigh was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Vinny Carbonara and James Michel certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Carbonara went 7-for-17 en route to 17 points, while Michel posted 14 points and three steals. Michel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Aiden Hardy was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Lehigh pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.1 points over those games. As for Fort Myers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Lehigh has already played their next match, a 79-69 victory against Riverview Sarasota on the 5th. As for Fort Myers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-47 win against Cape Coral on the 5th.
